ALPHABET SOUNDS

The letters in the English alphabet should be taught in this order:

1. Letters whose names begin with their own sounds:
                                   B - D - J - K - P - T - V - Z

2. Letters whose names do not begin with their own sounds:
                                   F - L - M - N - R - S - X

3. Letters with many sounds:
                                  short and long vowels: A-E-I-O-U 

                                  also: C - G - Q

4. Letters whose sounds are not in their names:
                                           H - W - Y
